Workshop title: GRASP Assessment: Teaching Geography through an Inquiry Approach
Workshop abstract: The nature of geographical inquiry is unique to that of other social sciences. This session will focus on the GRASP philosophy and how it can be utilised to create meaningful and challenging assessment for 21st century students to develop their geographical inquiry skills. A sample assessment task, based on the Australian Curriculum for Year 9, will be shared alongside examples of student work. The use of different pedagogical approaches to source investigation and strategies to teach the concepts of perspective and contestability will also form a part of the workshop. The workshop will adopt a hands-on approach and participants will receive several resources to use in the classroom.
