Workshop title: One city-two ways of seeing - Sao Paulo, Brazil

Workshop abstract: The city of Sao Paulo in Brazil is one of great economic, social and political contrasts. Some residents commute by helicopter from one side of the city to another. Others living in the favela's remain trapped in poverty. However, the negative impacts of rapid urbanization have been alleviated in some parts of Sao Paulo where residents have advocated successfully for land rights and better living conditions. This workshop will examine urban change over time and space and showcase the inspiring work of young change-makers in this fascinating city.
